THEME: ANOINTED BACKSLIDER. V.

MEMORY VERSE:
“And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus saith the LORD, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until thou have consumed them.”
1 Kings 22:11.

TODAY’S TEXT:
1 Kings 22:23-25. “Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.”

TODAY’S MESSAGE:
In the last part of this series, we saw Elisha’s apprentice by name Gehazi; who because of what man can offer, loose the possible double portion of Elisha’s anointing that await him.
Dear friend, self gratification as against God’s time and blessings, can lead to one destruction, as it was for Gehazi.
Meanwhile, Zedekiah with the other prophets could not perceive the move of the spirit of God out of their lives. Their minds were beclouded with ephemeral things, that the king supplies them daily, they most importantly, failed to warn the king. Moreover, they were with certainty of mind, that God will grant the two Kings victory.
More so, Zedekiah employ human wisdom or calculative intelligence, to make Iron horn for the king. That by plowing it, the enemies will flee. Sadly, were easily possessed by lying spirits from the spirit realm, because the connect to the spirit realm, in order to service the king and not God anyone.
Furthermore, our today’s text revealed that at one point in time, Zedekiah was use by God, but he was ignorance to the time, that he Backslides and God’s spirit departed from him. Which made him to say openly, “Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?
In conclusion, beloved in Christ, backsliding is not a sudden act, but a gradual movement away from God. Do know that, it requires daily self examination to checkmate it. The fact that, a prophet, priest, pastor or evangelist mount the pulpit, does not warrant God’s blessings to his listener. May you and I not be replaced in Jesus name. Amen.
