THE NARROW WAY DAILY DIGEST.
DATE: Sunday, February 17, 2019.
THEME: THE ANOINTED BACKSLIDER. VII.
MEMORY VERSE:
“For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica…”
2 Timothy 4:10.
TODAY’S TEXT:
“But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.”
TODAY’S MESSAGE:
Yesterday, we saw Judas Iscariot; an Apostle that performed signs and wonders, who later betrayed Jesus, by selling Him to the enemies. He eventually died by hanging himself.
As we consider, the last part of this series today, we will be looking at two anointed characters simultaneously: Ananias and Demas . These two individuals, were ministers of the gospel and were notable among the disciples of their time.
Notwithstanding, Ananias was a devoted man, who sold his properties to support the church, but he fell into satanic trap of fear of the unknown, he lied in order to cater for the unknown.
More so, Demas was a useful co-worker with Paul, who laboured with Paul on his various missionary journey, until when he deserted him for the worldly enjoyment.
However, Luke 11:35 warn us to, “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” Ananias and Demas despite their exploits in the church, did not finish well. They Backslided and their paths was closed against righteousness. Furthermore, the scripture says in 1 Corinthians 10:12,
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” As christians, we must hold firm our belief in Christ Jesus, even in the face of life adversities.
Conclusively, “…know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4). May we be blessed with grace to remain God’s friends and not enemies, may we finish well and our reward may we not missed in Jesus name. Amen.
God bless you. Jesus is coming very soon. Be prepared.
DAILY CONFESSION:
I receive grace to finish well and strong my christian journey.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, may the attraction from the world, not take me away from your grace. Help me Lord, to make it to heaven at last in Jesus name. Amen.
