THE NARROW WAY DAILY DIGEST.
DATE: Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
THEME: The Haunted Ones. VI.
MEMORY VERSE:
“And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”
Acts 7:60.
TODAY’S TEXT:
Acts 7:57-59.
Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
TODAY’S MESSAGE:
Yesterday, we saw a group of zealous people; who openly professed that they will not eat nor drink, till they had killed Paul. However, Paul used to be this zealous, going from one place to the other killing people who followed the new way.
Moreover, before Paul’s conversion, he was an ardent supporter of the Jewish tradition, that kicked against the new way. And Paul was the commandant that signed Stephen’s death warrant and confirmed it’s execution.
Meanwhile, at the point of death, Stephen’s death seems inconsequential to his executors, but the effect of it was severe on them, in no distant time.
Notwithstanding, Stephen was stoned, he was in great agony, he saw the end of his life coming faster and he prayed to God to receive his spirit, a prayer which God honour immediately.
Conclusively, our memory verse, points out the great virtue portraits by Stephen. He emulates Jesus on forgiveness by forgiven his executors. The truth is that, _’When you forgive those who sinned against you, you receive forgiveness from God.’_ (Matthew 6:14) May you receive grace to forgive those, who haunts or persecute you in Jesus name. Amen.
God bless you. *Jesus is coming very soon.* Be prepared.
DAILY CONFESSION:
Forgive us as we forgive, those who trespass against us.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, you are a loving God. Help me to show love to all, irrespective of their attitude towards me. And oh Lord, give me grace to forgive those who sins against me in Jesus name. Amen.
