THEME:
The Haunted Ones. IV.
MEMORY VERSE:
“And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.”
Acts 12:7.
TODAY’S TEXT:
Acts 12:1-3.
“Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)”
TODAY’S MESSAGE:
In the last part of this series, we considered Jeremiah’s good work and patience. We saw conspiracy against his good work and ministry. How people, he cared for repaid him with lies, with uproar, with imprisonment, with scourging and so on.
Notwithstanding, our today’s text further informed us of how a certain King Herod, rose against the church, in order to please a group of over zealous people. He killed Apostle James Zebedee, to haunt the early church. More so, he wanted to kill Apostle Simon Peter; who he put in prison, to be executed on a particular feast day.
Furthermore beloved in Christ, this is a pointer that the enemy is never satisfied, he is always wanting to cause more havoc. However, if we don’t take our rightful place in Christ Jesus, by standing in the gap for one another, the enemy may continue to have it’s way.
Conclusively, reading the passage further, you will realise that God sent an Angel to liberate Peter. An answer to the prayer of the church for him. When you pray for me, and I pray for you, together we destroy the devices of the haunter. May the good Lord intervene in our situation: as we move in one accord in Jesus name. Amen.
God bless you. *Jesus is coming very soon.* Be prepared.
DAILY CONFESSION:
Holy Spirit; the Comforter, set me on fire, for the unity of the body of Christ.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, help the church to be in one accord, with unity of purpose. Oh Lord, may the enemy not sieve me away before my time in Jesus name. Amen
